Policies
Absences:
Please inform the school before 8:00 a.m.,
if your child will not be attending school. This will help staff plan activities
accordingly.
Bedding:
Please provide a pillowcase and a sleeping
bag in a bag that can be hung on a hook. All bedding will be sent home once a
week for washing. All children in attendance for more than six hours will be
required to rest.
Before/After School:
Sign up for Town of Londonderry school
closings days two weeks prior to date.
Behavior management plan:
The staff is dedicated to the goal of maximizing
the growth and development of the children and for protecting the group and individuals within it. The staff will use behavioral management in a consistent, reasonable and appropriate way based on an understanding
of the individual needs and development of a child.
Birthday Parties:
All party invitations need attention of
the classroom teacher.
Clothing:
Please dress your children in comfortable,
washable, play clothing appropriate for the weather and daily activities. Please
provide one change of clothes (shirt, pants, socks, and underwear) for your child for unexpected events. Indoor school shoes must be warn. For example: sneakers or soft- soled shoes. During winter months, each child needs to have snow pants, jacket/snowsuit,
mittens, hat, and boots daily. Outside play is scheduled every day except during
rain or frigid weather.
Daily Information:
Announcements and notices will be posted
on classroom’s Parent board. Messages, monthly newsletters, and monthly
director’s letter will be put in the child’s mailbox. Please check
both of these places each day.
Discipline Policy:
When
a child’s behavior is such that it results in the disruption of classroom activities or it endangers the safety of other
children in the classroom, the parent is called in for a conference with the staff teacher and director to discuss appropriate
steps to correct the problem.
If such behavior continues in the classroom
on a daily basis, the parent will be called to remove the child for the remainder of the day.
The school reserves the right to suspend
the child for three days or to terminate the child on the basis of continual disruptive behavior or failure of the child to
comply with the policies set by the school.
Drop off/ pick-ups:
All children
need to be signed in and out each day. Please be prompt for drop/pick up times
for it is extremely important for the children.
Children need to be picked up at or before their contracted departure time.
All children must be picked up and off the premise by 6:00 p.m. since after 6:00 is staff personal time, repeated incidents
of late pick-ups must be avoided or there will be a charge for late pick ups.
Fire-Drills:
Monthly fire drills will be conducted to
inform children of proper emergency procedures.
Food and Beverages:
Please provide your child with a
lunch and one snack. The center will provide morning snack. Heat up foods should be provided in a microwavable container. Breakfast food may be sent as well if arrival
is before 7:30a.m. Each child should bring a lunch box/cooler with icepack to
keep things cold. The center will provide milk and juice, 2% milk will be offered
and various juices that are at least 10% juice. If there are specific fluid issues
please speak to the director.
Medications:
In order for any medication prescription
or non-prescription, to be administered by school staff the following are required:
*Written parent permission indicating the
name of the medication, the times to be administered and the amount given
*Written physician’s order: label
on prescription medication clearly indicating it is for the child
*All medications must be stored safely
at school with the staff. Please indicate if medication is to be refrigerated.
****DO NOT LEAVE MEDICATION IN LUNCH BOX OR CUBBY****
Progress Reports:
Developmentally age-appropriate progress
reports will be given for each child twice a year. Parent meetings will be at
the discretion of the teacher or upon request. Year-end evaluations will be formally
discussed with parents.
Rest Time:
All children rest for a minimum of one
hour. State law states children in attendance for more than five hours be provided
with an opportunity for at least one hour of rest, relaxation, or sleep, depending on the needs of the child.
School Shoes:
Please provide indoor sneakers or slippers. Children must wear footwear
at all times. Boots should not be worn inside.
Tuition:
Tuition is due on Tuesdays of each week. There will be a $10.00 late fee for tardiness with tuition. Please make a strong effort to pay on time to eliminate extra fees.
If you do not pay tuition on Tuesday, please include the late fee the next day.
If you come on Monday but not Tuesday, please pay on Monday. If you do not come on Monday or Tuesday, please pay the
first day you come.
Tuition is due
regardless of attendance, vacations, or Holiday closings. If you plan to be absent
please drop tuition in box before you leave. If you plan to terminate your child’s
enrollment, please notify the director two weeks in advance. If two weeks notice
is not given, the parent is still responsible for the payments for the two weeks that the child is not present. If tuition is paid monthly, there will be no refunds if withdrawal of student occurs within that month.
Toys:
If at all possible, home toys should
stay home. Each child will have the special opportunity during a show and share
time to bring in a special item from home.
Traffic and Safety:
Please do not leave your car running in the driveway. Please pull all the way forward to next available
spot before getting out of car. Please be timely when dropping off and picking
up during high traffic hours.
Health Policies:
Health Policies
Please comply with the following guidelines for school attendance for everyone’s health and safety.
· Chicken
Pox
A child with chicken pox will be
excluded from school until 7-10 days after the rash appears or when the lesions are scabbed over.
· Conjunctivitis
A child with conjunctivitis (pink eye)
can return to school 24 hours after antibiotic medication has been started.
· Colds
Children with nasal discharge will be allowed
to attend school unless the discharge is profuse.
A child with uncontrolled coughing or wheezing
will be sent home.
· Diarrhea
A child with more
than one episode of diarrhea in one day will be sent home.
· Ear Infections
A child who is feeling better and has no
fever can return to school.
· Fatigue
A parent will be called if a child exhibits extreme
or unusual fatigue or lethargy.
· Fever
A child with an oral temperature 101 oF or
higher combined with behavior changes or other signs of illness such as: diarrhea,
rash, ear ache, sore throat, or vomiting must be sent home. A child must be AFEBRILE
(without fever) for 24 hours before returning to school.
· Fifth Disease
Fifth disease is an illness caused by a
virus called human parvovirus B19. Most children with it develop a facial rash
(i.e. slapped cheek appearance) and a lace like rash on the trunk and extremities. It
takes 4-20 days after exposure to develop the characteristic rash illness of fifth Disease.
People with the rash are past the period of infectiousness to others; therefore, children with Fifth Disease may attend
school, as they are not contagious after the onset of the rash.
· Hand, Foot,
and Mouth Disease
An infection caused by the coxsackie virus
that produce vesicular lesions (i.e. blisters) that may occur in the mouth, on the sides of the tongue, inside the cheek and
on the gums. Lesions also occur on the palms, fingers, soles, and buttocks. Most lesions persist for 7-10 days. A
low-grade fever may accompany the illness for one to two days. Exclusion from
a childcare facility or school is not recommended.
· Head Lice-
Scabies
A child with head lice can return
to school 24 hours after treatment has begun and after all nits have been removed.
· Hepatitis-A
Persons diagnose with hepatitis-A should
be excluded from childcare and school for one week after jaundice appears.
· Impetigo
A child can return to school 24 hours after
treatment has begun and lesions can be covered.
· Mildly
Ill Child
Children exhibiting non-contagious symptoms,
which should be expected to resolve themselves in a short time, will be allowed to stay in school. If the symptoms persist and impair or prohibit a child’s participation in the regular school activities
a parent will be called. If the symptoms require more care than childcare personnel are able to provide without compromising
the health and safety of the ill or injured child or the other children a parent will be called.
· Skin Lesions
A child with skin lesions, which have not
been diagnosed or treated by a licensed health practitioner, will be sent home.
· Strep Throat
A child can return to school 24 hours after
antibiotic treatment has begun.
· Vomiting
After a night of vomiting, parents should
keep their child at home the following day. When your child feels well enough
to return to school and there are no other symptoms, then your child may be readmitted to school. While in school two or more episodes of vomiting, the child will be sent home.
We reserve the right not to
accept a child who appears ill or has a contagious condition. This is for the protection of other children and staff in the
school.
It is our policy that if your child is sent home with any of the following symptoms:
fever, rash, diarrhea, vomiting, or the first sign of a communicable disease, the child may not return to school for 24 hours,
not including the day the child is sent home.
